Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
