Poker Face

Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the closest gambling establishment, to find a superior stakes game of Hold’em, to sit at a Black-jack table for hours on end. I love that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also really like to watch people wager. No two poker faces seem the same. When I wager I like to assume I put on a poker face that’s impassable. Except I know I have certain personal habits. For 1, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Twenty-one. And then I chain smoke. Except I chain smoke no matter if I am winning or losing, whether I’ve a beneficial hand or bad.

I once wagered in a weekly poker game. The casino game was always five card draw. There was a gentleman who bet with us every single week who always wore a hat. When he was given a excellent hand, subconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Pointless to say, he never won.

The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a person who manufactured a lot more movements and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was impeccable in the way he dressed. Often an costly suit and tie, footwear shined and nails manicured. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was usually brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or putting his chips in neat little piles.

I use to examine him for hours on end. I would attempt to see if I could spot his tell. Selecting fuzz off his vest- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a very short pile – did this mean he had a very good hand?

Many years later I bumped into him in a very bar in Boston and we had a drink. I asked him if he have been aware of all those activities he made or if they were unconscious. He told me that every individual thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is usually checking out everybody else’s poker face. They’re attempting to spot the the tell.

So his method was to provide them lots to consider about. His thinking was if they had been thinking about him selecting a piece of fuzz off his shirt and what it meant they sure weren’t thinking about their cards.

His program was distraction. And it worked for him. In no way give up a system that operates for you.
