NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
