No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
