NL Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he loved participating in numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting very aggressive in these card games while playing his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little bit and headed to New York City to participate in some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were difficult as he would play many hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some additional money by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he might improve his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and concentrate more on poker.

The real improvement in his abilities happened when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would often challenge each other. He had access into some of the foremost players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his logical thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of No-Limit texas hold’em.

Howard also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. She was a great student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the best female players the poker world today. He headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the following 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
