Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
